Virtual Roundtable Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations and the Winston-Salem Human Relations Department invite you to the third annual virtual roundtable about municipal and county nondiscrimination ordinances. This year’s topic is AI & Algorithmic Bias in Hiring & Employment Decisions. Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the hiring process, from resume screening and candidate sourcing to interview scheduling and employment assessments. While these technologies offer new efficiencies, they also raise important questions about fairness, transparency, and compliance with employment discrimination laws. Wednesday, August 26, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Featured Speakers: Raina Haque, J.D. Professor of Practice—Computational Law and Emergent Technologies, Wake Forest University School of Law Raina Haque is a legal scholar specializing in artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and technology regulation. A former deep neural network developer at the National Institutes of Health, she brings expertise spanning computer science, ethics, and law. Her internationally recognized research and policy work help shape practical approaches to AI governance and regulation. Clarence Okoh, J.D. National Director of Civil Rights and Technology, TechTonic Justice Clarence Okoh is a civil rights attorney whose work focuses on the legal and policy implications of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. A former litigator with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and researcher at Georgetown Law's Center on Privacy and Technology, he develops legal and policy approaches to address the impact of AI on employment, education, healthcare, and other areas of public life.
